Porcupine Mountains Backpacking Trip- July 9-11, 2021
“Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park is Michigan’s largest state park. It is home to 35,000 acre old-growth forest, roaring waterfalls, miles of rivers and streams, more than 90 miles of hiking trails, the Lake Superior shoreline and vistas unrivaled anywhere in the Midwest.” (MI DNR)
This 3-day, 2 night weekend adventure will begin at the Porcupine Mountains Visitor Center near Ontonagon, Upper Michigan. Women explorers will experience the wonders of backpacking through the picturesque virgin forest and varied terrain that borders the shore of Lake Superior. You’ll spend 3 days & 2 nights in the wilderness as you travel on foot with Solstice’s owner & experienced backcountry trip leader Amy Boelk. Not only will you learn and use practical outdoor skills, you’ll also share stories around camp and enjoy the healing and relaxation that only the solitude of nature can bring. Perfect for first-time backpackers, this trip will bring together like-minded women seeking an empowering experience in a small group setting.
